BONARDA DELL'OLTREPÒ PAVESE D.O.C.

YOGI BERRA

A ruby red that electrifies for its lively color and immediately strikes.
The Yogi Berra represents a perfect balance between the tannic component of Croatina and the juiciness of Barbera, two prominent varieties perfectly blended from which they release fragrance of scents reminescent of both small red fruits and spices.

It is typical in northern Italy and in particular in Lombardy, to create wines which blend Croatina with Barbera. The Yogi Berra is a blend created respecting the tradition of the territory from which it comes from.

"One thing is clear, as colorful as Yogi’s stories were and as popular as his star shined off of the field, he was also quite the character behind home plate." - BaseballHall.org

It ain’t the heat, it’s the humility

Century-old vines still exist in many regional vineyards in Italy and allow for the production of long-aging, robust red wines with intense fruit and enhanced tannic content.

These wines in their infancy offer a very intense aroma of fresh red cherries and blackberries. In the lightest versions notes of cherries, raspberries and blueberries and with notes of blackberry and black cherries in wines made of more ripe grapes.
Many producers employ the use of toasted oak barrels, which provides for increased complexity, aging potential, and hints of vanilla notes.

The lightest versions are generally known for flavors and aromas of fresh fruit and dried fruits, and are not recommended for cellaring. Wines with better balance between acid and fruit, often with the addition of oak and having a high alcohol content are more capable of cellaring; these wines often result from reduced-yield viticultural methods.

Bonarda dell'Oltrepò Pavese D.O.C.

Lombardy is a region of north central Italy. The region is known particularly for its sparkling wines made in the Franciacorta and Oltrepò Pavese areas.

Barbera is a red Italian wine grape variety that, as of 2000, was the third most-planted red grape variety in Italy (after Sangiovese and Montepulciano). It produces good yields and is known for deep color, full body, low tannins and high levels of acidity.

Croatina is a red Italian wine grape variety that is grown primarily in the Oltrepò Pavese region of Lombardy and in the Province of Piacenza within Emilia Romagna, but also in parts of Piedmont and the Veneto. Croatina has characteristics similar to the Dolcetto grape in that it tends to produce fruity, deeply colored wines that are mildly tannic and can benefit from bottle aging. Such is the case with the wine Oltrepò Pavese Bonarda DOC which contains from 85% to 100% Croatina (under its local name of ‘Bonarda’).

Yogi Berra Museum & learning Center

“Be your favorite player.”

Since officially opening its doors on Dec. 4, 1998, with students and teachers from the Bradford Academy in Montclair being the first public visitors, the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center has become a hugely popular destination for sports fans and educators alike. It is also recognized as the New York metropolitan area’s premier sports education center.

After an extensive renovation in 2011, it has grown into the New York metropolitan area’s premier sports education center. The YBMLC is an engaging walk through the life and career of one of the most beloved sports figures of all time – as well as the most quoted American. From growing up in the Great Depression to his service during World War II to his legendary career as catcher of the Yankees’ dynasty from the late 1940s to early ’60s, Yogi Berra’s values and character have made him the great American success story.

The Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center – which empowers students through year-round character-based programs – is a poignant reminder to young people that they, too, can be anything they want to be. Educational programs are created in collaboration with faculty from Montclair State University as well as professionals in the world of sports, business and the arts.
